Jordan Ministry awards $128m for Solar plant to TSK

UAE-based solar photovoltaic integrator Enviromena and Spanish TSK Group have been awarded a contract to build a 103MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Jordan’s southern region of Al Quweira.

Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will fund the $128m solar plant through a grant from Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).

Sami Khoreibi, Enviromena’s CEO said, “This is the largest project Enviromena has been awarded to date and is indicative of the growth of our company and the regional market. This joint venture will combine both Enviromena and TSK’s expertise and resources to build the largest Solar PV plant in Jordan.”

“The Al Quweira solar plant will be crucial to Jordan’s energy diversification programme and significantly reduce the Kingdom’s reliance on expensive hydrocarbons, helping it to reach its target of adding 600MW of solar and wind power by 2016.”

Enviromena has over eight years of experience in constructing PV plants in the region, with over 70MW of PV installed capacity under operation in a total of nine regional countries.

TSK is an international EPC contractor, and has over a decade of experience in engineering and construction of PV plants on a turnkey basis, with over 300MW of PV power plants built and currently under operation.
