Overview / Responsibilties

 

Wood is recruiting for a Construction Director to safely and effectively manage the team overseeing the delivery of all preparation and physical construction and testing activities under the control of the CMA. Responsible for the safe and compliant delivery of the installation of the ITER site in the areas under the MOMENTUM responsibility as per the CMA scope and critical milestones per the Construction Detailed Schedule.

 

Responsibility

  • The management of the construction preparation, site coordination, work supervision; field configuration status, completion management.
  • Management of the Site Construction Management Teams providing clear direction on priorities and needed improvements
  • Organizinig his team for efficient & compliant on-time delivery of construction
  • Ensuring the site supervision team has the tools and support to reach mechanical completions
  • Providing safety leadership to team
  • Managing communications internal and external for the Site Activities
  • Diplomacy in working with IO, a multi-national customer with competing agendas
  • Strategic planning associated with contract implmenetiaon as the scope for CMA evolves over the lifetime of the project
  • Development of yearly resource plan, basis of estimate, & key qualifiers to support contract ammendments
  • Leadership ot team to motivate them in deliverying while promoting continuous improvements to deal with the challenges
  • Participating in weekly meeting with the customer to ensure we have alignment with customer IO and elevate issues/ concerns that we must solve with IO
  • Ensure Monthly Site Construction report is accurate & delivered on-time to the customer
  • Provide input to the planning activities to ensure we have an optimal schedule that considers all interfaces
  • Support the material management team in getting the information to do their job
  • Support the Permit To Work team to ensure they have the tools and information to function efficiently
  • Be an active member of the MOMENTUM Leadership Team providing innovative ideas to improve our delivery & support to peers

  • Identification of construction risk that should be managed proactively to not disrupt project delivery

 

Skills / Qualifications

 

  • International > 200M Euro/Dollar/GBP delivery as the Construction Director of CM or EPCm projects
  • Technical knowledge of the requirements for nuclear equipment and plants construction in France
  • Execution of projects in a highly regulated environment, preferably nuclear
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage team to deliver the CMA construction coordination, supervision, and completions
  • Experience in the transition & transformation of an organisation to work and achieve collaboratively
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, especially multi-cultural stakeholders
  • Demonstrate past experience in successful collaboration with customers, especially ones that are more engineering minded than construction orieitnd
  • Worked effectively in a joint venture environment
  • Leadership of a multi-national teams and cognisance of different cultural requirements and behaviours
  • Experience in programme and project management including the establishment and maintenance of complex and integrated schedules
  • Fluent in English, with additional French preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with creative solution and problem solving skills
  • Direct and effective stewardship of supply chain resources
  • Technically experienced with strong reputation within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding and experience of construction works
  • Experienced in implementing a permit to work system
