Overview / Responsibilties

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Senior Canadian Tax Analyst. As a member of the Tax Department, under the direction of the Canadian Senior Tax Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting the Canadian Senior Tax Manager in the preparation of the Canadian corporate tax compliance and reporting for Amec Foster Wheeler’s Canadian legal entities. The primary focus of the position will be income tax compliance and reporting but the position will also involve researching tax issues, assisting in tax audits and executing tax projects as assigned.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Canadian corporate income tax returns and other compliance reporting requirements
  • Preparation and filing of Foreign Affiliate Reporting and Information returns on transactions with Related Non-Residents
  • Preparation of tax provisions including current, deferred tax analysis and effective tax rate reconciliation
  • Reconciliation and adjustment of tax provision to filings and assessments
  • Preparation of federal and provincial installments calculations, ensuring that installments are made on a timely basis
  • Assisting in compliance and effectiveness of SOX controls
  • Preparation/review and analysis of Canadian monthly tax entries/tax accounts
  • Participate in Canadian tax audits, reassessments and objections as assigned
  • Assistance in Tax Planning Implementation as required, including collecting and preparing information required for overall tax planning such as:
  • Federal and provincial tax attributes optimization
  • Research and Development Tax Credits planning and monitoring
  • Transfer Pricing documentation
  • Monitoring of related party financing
  • Research of tax issues as assigned on all other Canadian tax matters, including income taxes, GST / HST, provincial sales taxes and custom duties
  • Provide tax assistance in the preparation of the company operational and financial plans

Skills / Qualifications

  • Accounting designation preferred
  • Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience required
  • 5 years + Canadian tax experience
  • CICA In-depth Tax Course completed or partially completed
  • Ability to work in a challenging, deadline-oriented environment with proven ability to organize and prioritize a high volume workload
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Canadian tax compliance functions, plus involvement with Canadian tax planning preferred
  • Highly motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Team player willing to share workload and work cooperatively with tax and other internal and external client groups/customers
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
